Water Resources Building / Computing Applications Building
The Water Resources Building, located at the corner of Sixth Street and Springfield Avenue in Champaign, [1] was dedicated in the Union Ballroom on Tuesday, October 2, 1951 at 6:30PM. [2] The new facilities were a welcome new home for the Water Survey, which had resided in the basement of Noyes Laboratory since 1902. The building underwent a single renovation in 1965 before the Survey eventually moved out in 1984 for their new center on Griffith Drive. [3]
Today, the building is known as the Computing Applications Building and is occupied by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. However, in mid-2005, NCSA's new building will open, and the building will become the home of a third campus unit.
