Lorado Taft House
The Lorado Taft House, now located on Pennsylvania Avenue, once stood at the corner of John and Sixth Streets, on the site of the modern Swanlund Administration building. For a number of years, the Speech and Hearing Clinic called the house home, until it moved into its present building in 1975. In 1971 the house was recommended for demolition, but the legacy that Taft left behind him on campus was sufficient to sway administrators to save the building. In 1981 the house was uprooted and made its way to its present home on the back of a moving truck.
