Civitas University Community Design Center

Located at 112 West Main Street in Urbana, the Civitas University Community Design Center attempts to bridge the gap between academic learning and real world experience in urban planning. Several University of Illinois classes are taught in conjunction with the center, "tak[ing] the work that [the students] do in class and apply[ing] it to the community". Opened in December 2003, the Center was funded largely through the Vice Chancellor for Public Engagement's office. [1]
