National Center for Supercomputing Applications Building
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications was founded in 1986 by the National Science Foundation to address the dearth of unclassified supercomputing resources available for academic research. The Center has experienced unbounded growth since the day it opened and by the early 2000's, it occupied nine buildings on the UIUC campus and one in Virginia. [1]
On October 22, 2003, NCSA broke ground on its new $30M building, which will bring together most of the Center's personnel into a single building for the first time since its inception. The building's 142,000 square feet were designed by LZT Associates and are slated for completion in May 2005. [2]
