Illini Forest Plantations and Hawke Hall

The Illini Forest Plantations serve as the hands-on "living research laboratory" [1] of the Department of Forestry. Most of the permanent trees in the plantation date from the 1960's, and are used for a variety of research, such as studying the healing response of various species of trees to fire. [2]

Hawke Hall is a small storage shed on the plantation grounds unofficially named in 1977 after a departmental secretary. [3]
