?????(?s????????> Willard Airport??????(?s????????>
Dedicated on Friday, October 26, 1945, [1] with its first regular flight service in 1954, [2] Willard Airport currently operates more than 26 flights a day, serving 250,000 passengers a year, making it one of the largest University-owned airports in the country. [3] By 1959, Ozark Air Lines serviced the airport. [4]
The airport is named after Arthur Cutts Willard, who served as University President from 1934 to 1946 and oversaw the construction of the airport. He was also responsible for developing the ventilation system used in the Holland Tunnel, which traces its roots [5] to work performed in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory. [6]
