Libraries
In 1935, there were 10 departmental libraries in addition to the main campus library. There were as follows: [1]
- The Agriculture Library had a capacity of 108 students and held 24,500 volumes.
- The Architecture Ricker Library had a capacity of 80 students and held 11,100 volumes.
- The Chemistry Library had a capacity of 100 students and held 15,900 volumes.
- The Engineering Library had a capacity of 110 students and held 34,600 volumes.
- The Journalism Library had a capacity of only 20 students and held just 600 volumes.
- The Landscape Architecture Library had a capacity of 30 students and held 5,000 volumes.
- The Law Library had a capacity of 200 students and held 42,900 volumes.
- The Mathematics Library had a capacity of 32 students and held 11,800 volumes.
- The Natural History Library had a capacity of 52 students and held 55,200 volumes.
- The Physics Library had a capacity of 18 students and held 1,600 volumes.
The 750 seats and 203,200 volumes in the departmental libraries were supplemented by the main library's 2,000 seats and 758,100 volumes, for nearly a 3,000 seats and almost a million volumes in the University's holdings. [2]
