Labor and Industrial Relations Building
The Labor and Industrial Relations Building was dedicated at noon on Thursday, November 29, 1962. The ceremony in the Illini Union featured an address by Professor George W. Taylor of the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce entitled "Freedom and Responsibility in Collective Bargaining" and was followed by an open house at 4PM. [1]
The construction of the building was funded by gifts from the William Green Memorial Fund, the United Steelworkers of America, various Illinois industry, and the individual contributions of union workers around the state. The architectural firm was Graham Anderson Probst & White, while English Brothers was the general contractor. [2]
