J. Gerald Demirjian Indoor Golf Facility
Groundbreaking on the J. Gerald Demirjian Indoor Golf Facility was held at 10AM on Saturday, September 18, 2004. [1] The $3M new facility [2] was made possible through many generous donations, chief among them the Demirjian family of Decatur, Ill, who own The DemirCo Group. [3]
The University golf team presently trains in converted racquetball courts in the basement of Huff Hall, where they practice their swings by hitting into large nets. The new facility will include two swing analysis systems to allow the players to diagnosis and perfect their swings, even during the winter. [4] Offering an entire training facility under one roof, the new Demirjian Facility will provide "putting greens and a chipping and pitching area, heated hitting bays that open onto an expansive outdoor driving range, locker rooms, study areas and team lounge", potentially making it "the finest indoor facility in college golf".
