On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Williamson; no, none.

APPROPRIATION FOR GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS FOR 1951-1952

(6) The Dean of the Graduate College recommends that an appropriation of $150,000 be made at this time for graduate fellowships for the year 1951-1952. This amount was appropriated for the current academic year and is included in the biennial budget estimates for 1951-1953. It is necessary that the funds be committed now so that fellowship awards can be made and announced by April 1, 1951. No change in the nature or amount of the stipends is proposed. Of the total, the sum of $18,000 will be budgeted for fellowships in the Chicago Professional Colleges and $132,000 for fellowships at Urbana-Champaign. I concur.
