522 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [January 23 provide for the necessary staff, expense, and equipment to increase the efficiency and the amount of work done in the operating rooms. The increase has been included in the biennial budget estimates for 1951-1953. I recommend a recurring appropriation of $21,200 on an annual basis prorated to conform to the portion of the year remaining from the date of implementation of this expansion and a nonrecurring appropriation of $2400. On motion of Mr. Livingston, these funds were appropriated, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Williamson; no, none. CONTRACT FOR POWER PLANT ADDITION (9) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $23,850 to the Contracting Construction Company, Inc., Danville, for the construction of the Diesel engine house which is a part of the Power Plant addition. Funds are available in the state appropriation for "Additions to Power and Heating Plant and remodeling of existing buildings." I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract, subject to the release of funds by the Governor. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, authority was given, as recommended. CHANGE IN GENERAL CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS A D D I T I O N (10) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $1,507.66 in the contract with the Patrick Warren Construction Company, Chicago, for the general work in the construction of the Research and Educational Hospitals addition. This is to cover materials and labor for installation of additional shelf angles for proper support of the masonry at building corners. Funds are available in the state appropriation for "Construction of addition to present hospital." I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this change in the contract. O n motion of M r . Livingston, authority was given, as recommended. CHANGE IN ELECTRICAL CONTRACT FOR C O N S T R U C T I O N O F RESEARCH A N D EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS ADDITION (11) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $9,968.37 in the contract with the Wadeford Electric Company, Chicago, for the construction of the Research and Educational Hospitals addition to provide for: ( a ) Work and materials necessary for installation of 66 additional telephone outlets, including larger conduits, estimated to cost $2 423 70 ( b ) Installation of an emergency call system for operating rooms on fourth floor, estimated to cost 2 012 17 ( c ) Installation of 22 X-ray film illuminators 3 198 00 ( d ) Installation of 62 additional outlets and 15 ampere single pole circuit breakers in eighth floor laboratory power panels, estimated to cost.. 2 334 50 Funds are available in the state appropriation for "Construction of addition to present hospital." I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute these changes in the contract. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, authority was given, as recommended.
