Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 6, 13, 14, 16, 23, 24, 30, 36, and 42) $1,162,422 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for the construction of a new room in the Physical Plant Service Building to house a new D.C. motor generator set. Release No. 54 "For Permanent Improvements at Urbana-Champaign — Construction of Veterinary Science unit" 250 000 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $1,560,000. The Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 7 and 20) $1,310,000 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for an autopsy room and related activity. Release No. 55 "For Permanent Improvements at Urbana-Champaign — Contingencies to cover expenditures for purposes for which the amount in any item above enumerated is, or becomes insufficient" 65 000 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $250,000. The Governor has previously released (Release No. 33) $15,000 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for additional construction of the Veterinary Science unit. Release No. 56 "For Equipment for buildings at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago" 25 500 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $680,000. The Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 2, 18, 40, 43, 44, 46, and 50) $202,253.65 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for the purchase of a complete Diesel engine driven generator unit to be used in connection with the addition to the Power Plant. I recommend that the funds released be appropriated for the purposes specified. O n motion of Mr. McLaughlin, these funds w e r e appropriated, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Livingston, M r . McLaughlin, Mr. Williamson; no, none.

APPROPRIATION FROM AGRICULTURAL RECEIPTS

(4) The Dean of the College of Agriculture and the Comptroller recommend an appropriation of $1,300 from the excess Agricultural Income reserved for the use of the College of Agriculture to the Department of Horticulture. This appropriation is requested to provide funds for the equipment and labor necessary to improve the heating system in the plant breeding greenhouse. This greenhouse is high and can not be heated satisfactorily in moderately cold weather with the present equipment. The estimated cost of the improvements is $1,300. I concur and request the approval of an appropriation of $1,300 from accumulated Agricultural Income.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, this appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Williamson; no, none.

APPROPRIATION OF FEDERAL FUNDS

(5) The Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Extension Service and the Comptroller recommend the appropriation of $88,528 of additional funds which have been made available for the fiscal year 1950-1951 and allocation of these funds as follows: To pay mileage for travel of county farm and home advisers and their assistants, and for additional help in county extension work $31 272 Travel and expenses for a project on milk marketing 2 000 Demonstration and educational programs for retail distributors of fresh fruit and vegetables 5 000 Extension of the project in farm housing 2 500 Continuation of projects in research and marketing 47 756 Total $88 528 I recommend that this appropriation be made.
