670 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [December 18 MEETING O F T H E E X E C U T I V E COMMITTEE DECEMBER 18, 1939 A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Blackstone Hotel, in Chicago, on Monday, December 18, 1939, during a recess of the meeting of the Board of Trustees on the same day. Mr. Moschel and Mrs. Plumb, members of the Committee, were present; also the members of the Board and the officers enumerated above. On motion of Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb acted as Chairman. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT WILLARD The Executive Committee acted on the following matters presented by the President of the University. SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS AND NON-RECURRING EXPENDITURES (1) T h e Committee on Special Appropriations and Non-Recurring Expenditures recommends assignments from the General Reserve Fund for the following purposes: Equipment for College of Engineering $15 000 Equipment for College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 5 ooo Collection of prints for the College of Fine and Applied A r t s . . . . I 500 Equipment for Industrial Arts in the University High School 675 $22 175 On motion of Mr. Moschel, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb; no, none; absent, Mr. Mayer. APPROPRIATION FOR POWER PLANT (2) The Director of the Physical Plant Department recommends the assignment of $47,550 from the State appropriation for the new Power Plant and Distribution System for the following purposes: Construction of the load centers (transformer stations) of the electrical distribution system, which includes work in the individual buildings, and connection with the new Power Plant $40 500 Columns and tops of four expansion loop vaults in the tunnel system 3 050 Rearrangement of piping in present tunnel and replacement of supports $10 000 Amount chargeable to operation and maintenance appropriation (light and power) in current budget of Physical Plant Department 6 000 Amount chargeable to Power Plant appropriation 4 000 $47 55o The Director of the Physical Plant Department recommends that his department be authorized to do all of this work. I concur. On motion of Mr. Moschel, this appropriation was made and authority was given as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb; no, none; absent, Mr. Mayer.
