APPROPRIATION TO DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (3) A recommendation that an addition of $600 be made to the budget of the Department of Pediatrics for a payment of the University's share of the cost of bedside instruction of clinical clerks in the Pediatrics wards of the Cook County Hospital. T h e cost of this instruction and incidental expenses will be shared equally by the four Class A medical schools in Chicago which have been given these clinical facilities. This represents a permanent addition to the budget of the Department.

On motion of Mr. Moschel, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb; no, none; absent, Mr. Mayer.

ADJUSTMENTS IN THE BUDGET OF THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (4) T h e Directors of the Athletic Association have authorized the following special assignments of funds and adjustments in their budget subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees: Purchase of Hammond Electric Organ for the Skating R i n k . . . $1 056.60 Increase in salary of Crane Hornor, Assistant Trainer 450 00 Salary of Harold Osborn, Assistant Track Coach 300 00

All of these items involve an increase in the budget of the Athletic Association, but there is ample surplus to cover them. O n m o t i o n of M r . M o s c h e l , t h e P r e s i d e n t of t h e U n i v e r s i t y w a s requested to present additional information on the organ, and the t w o o t h e r a d j u s t m e n t s in t h e b u d g e t of t h e A t h l e t i c A s s o c i a t i o n w e r e authorized. APPOINTMENT OF DR. R. B. BROWNE AS DIRECTOR OF THE SUMMER SESSION (5) When the late Professor E. H . Cameron, who also served as Director of the Summer Session, was given sick leave a year ago, Dr. R. B. Browne, Director of University Extension, was appointed Acting Director of the Summer Session and has served in that capacity since. I recommend he be appointed Director of the Summer Session at a salary for this position of $750 a year. O n m o t i o n of M r . M o s c h e l , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s m a d e a s r e c o m mended. APPOINTMENTS TO THE 19 4 0 SUMMER SESSION (6) A recommendation that the following appointments to the 1940 Summer Session staff be authorized. These are appointments of individuals not now on the faculty of the University, and it is necessary to enter into contracts with them well in advance of the Summer Session: 1. Ernest V. Hollis, Visiting Professor of Education $1 000 2. Archer W. Hurd, Visiting Professor of Education 800 3. F r a n k E. Baker, Visiting Professor of Education 500 4. Charles F. Harrold, Visiting Professor of English 750 5. Lee Byrne, Visiting Professor of Education 700 Doctor Baker's appointment is for the period beginning July 14 and ending August 10, 1940. The other appointments are for the period beginning June 17 and ending August 10, 1940.

On motion of Mr. Moschel, these appointments were made as recommended. The Executive Committee adjourned.
