EXECUTIVE C O M M I T T E E President Noble, as chairman of the Executive Committee, reported the following actions of the Committee: On September 15, 1923, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in Chicago. FARM MECHANICS BUILDING The following bids were received by the Supervising Architect for the General Work on the Addition to the Farm Mechanics Building: G. A. Applegate £22,130 Sowers & Corkery 22,55° A. W . Stoolman 22,992 English Brothers 23,758 L. B. King & C o 23,766 Revised bids were requested on the General Work from the three low bidders on the basis of omitting most of the concretefloor,one coat of interior paint, and a work bench. T h e revised bids were as follows: G. A. Applegate $19,291 Sowers & Corkery 19,484 A. W . Stoolman 20,454 The estimated cost to complete the building on items not included in the general work is as follows: Skylight $ 800.00 Wiring and Fixtures 1,600.00 Drainage 900.00 Cost of Drawings 478.30 Heating 3,000.00 £7,°78.30 Miscellaneous & Extras was awarded to G. A. Applegate for $19,291, plus $165 300.00 The general contract for additional work not included in the specifications. The estimated total cost of the building on the basis of this award is $26,534.30. The sum of $15,000 was appropriated toward the expense of this construction out of the $380,000 appropriated by the last Legislature for Agricultural buildings. MEDICAL RESEARCH BUILDING The contract for the furnishings of the Medical Research Laboratory and Library Building was awarded to Benbrook, Monroe, & Co. of Chicago on the basis of the low bid, at $22,694. DAIRY SILOS The contract for the silo walls for the Dairy Barns was let to the Kalamazoo Tank & Silo Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan, at a cost of $3450 for which an appropriation was made from the sum of $380,000 appropriated by the Legislature for Agricultural Buildings. O n m o t i o n of M r . T r i m b l e , this report w a s received for record, a n d the actions of the Executive C o m m i t t e e w e r e approved. INVESTIGATION OF BREEDING GOATS President Noble made a statement concerning the breeding of goats and the use of goats' milk. O n motion of M r . Trees, this matter was referred to the President of the University for investigation and report.
