MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS February 23, 1953 The F e b r u a r y meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Faculty-Alumni Lounge of the Illini Union Building at Urbana, Illinois, on Monday, F e b r u a r y 23, 1953, beginning at 10:30 a.m. W h e n the Board convened, the following members were present: Mr. W i r t Herrick, Mr. Robert Z. Hickman, Mr. W a y n e A. Johnston, Mr. P a r k Livingston, and M r s . Franees B. Watkins. Governor William G. Stratton, Mr. John R. Fornof, Mr. Harold E. Grange, M r s . Doris S. Holt, and Mr. Herbert B. Megran were absent. Superintendent Vernon L. Nickell was absent at the beginning of the meeting but joined it later. Also present were President George D. Stoddard, Provost Coleman R. Griffith, Dean E. R. Series, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Chicago Professional Colleges, Mr. Ralph F . Lesemann, Legal Counsel, Mr. J. F . Wright, Director of Public Relations, Mr. Lloyd Morey, Comptroller, Mr. C. W . Weldon, Treasurer, and Mr. A. J. Janata, Secretary of the Board. A quorum being lacking, on motion of Mr. Johnston the Board recessed. 529
