QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation, with training in typing, shorthand, and clerical work; typing speed forty net words per minute; shorthand speed seventy net words per minute; minimum age sixteen. Clerk-Typist III DEFINITION: Under general supervision, t o be responsible for the performance of difficult typing and complex clerical work 'involving the exercise of independent judgment a n d / o r the supervision of a clerical staff of lower rank. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: To transcribe on the typewriter from dictating machines and to type difficult material including technical manuscripts, tabulations, statistical data and subject matter requiring exceptional skill and ability; supervise the work of clerical staff of lower rank in the office; be responsible for files, payrolls, and general office routine; compile data for reports; arrange appointments and conferences; give out information as directed; compose routine correspondence; receive callers; operate office a n d / o r duplicating machines as required; prepare materials for mailing; handle cash and other valuables; keep expenditure and income accounts; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; business training preferred; at least one year of responsible clerical and typing experience, preferably in a university or college; typing speed forty-five net words per minute; minimum age twenty. Clerk-Typist II DEFINITION: Under direct supervision, but with some independence, t o perform clerical and typing duties. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O do typing of notes, manuscripts, records, requisitions, vouchers, reports, and letters; transcribe from dictating machines; do typing of materials and do cutting of stencils which sometimes involve technical text, tabulations, or foreign languages; compile d a t a and minor statistics; sort, classify, index, insert, and withdraw file letters, records, requisitions, invoices, and subject matter material; operate office a n d / o r duplicating machines as required; arrange appointments; receive callers; give out information as directed; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation with special training in typing and clerical work, or post-high school business training; one year of experience in clerical work preferable; typing speed forty-five net words per minute; minimum age eighteen. Clerk-Typist I DEFINITION: Under close supervision, to perform routine clerical and typing work. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O do routine typing of letters, manuscripts, requisitions, vouchers, and forms; transcribe from dictating machines; open, address, seal, and mail correspondence; file materials as directed; cut stencils; answer telephones; receive callers; give out information as instructed; operate office and/or duplicating machines as required; perform messenger service; perform related duties as assigned. Office Appliance Operator II DEFINITION: Under supervision, to perform work requiring knowledge and skill in the operation of business office machines and in related clerical work. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O operate independently business office machines such as adding, comptometer and calculating, in making original computations or in verifying computations already made; check the accuracy of invoices, vouchers, and voucher schedules for arithmetic accuracy and compliance with departmental or divisional regulations; supervise, instruct, or advise new employees or clerical subordinates in office procedures and in machine operation; maintain necessary files; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; at least six months of experience in the operation of business office machines as required; tact; pleasing personality; good health; minimum age eighteen.
