D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O supervise and manage the work of Print Shop bindery; train and instruct bindery assistants and apprentices; perform skilled work of trade; check time and materials; maintain machinery; plan work of department; supervise its execution and assume responsibility for timely delivery. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; at least seven years' experience in designated trade or craft; ability to lead and supervise bindery employees; good physical condition; good judgment; minimum age twenty-eight. Cylinder Press Room Foreman DEFINITION: Under direction of Superintendent of Print Shop, to supervise and be immediately responsible for the work of skilled tradesmen in cylinder press room. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O supervise and manage the work of the cylinder press room; maintain printing presses and other press room equipment; train and instruct apprentices; check time and materials; plan work of department and check its quantity and quality. Landscape Gardener DEFINITION: Under supervision, to perform technical duties involving skill and experience in landscape design. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: To take field measurements, and prepare working drawings and estimates for landscape plantings, including site improvements and garden design; make field lay-out from planting plans and/or specifications, and supervise installation of plants; make arrangements for, and supervise installation of palms, ferns, and flowers required for public functions; maintain inventory records required in connection with the operation of University nurseries; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; special training in landscape architecture, with at least three years of experience in landscape design and drafting work; University education in landscape architecture may be substituted year for year for experience up to a maximum of two years; ability to perform site improvement drafting work and detailed planting plans; knowledge of the characteristics and arrangement of flowers and materials required for indoor and outdoor floral arrangements; accuracy, thoroughness; pleasant personality; minimum age twenty-three. Routeman Helper DEFINITION: Under general supervision of a receiving station supervisor, and direct supervision of a driver, to assist in loading and unloading trucks for route deliveries from a central receiving station. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O assist drivers in the general distribution of materials for truck route deliveries; load trucks at beginning of trip and unload when trip is finished; run deliveries from truck to departmental location or warehouse as directed; obtain receipts; record any shortages or breakage on proper forms; and report same upon completion of deliveries; assist with receipt of merchandise at dock; check materials; assist in checking purchase orders; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; experience in University Stores preferable; good health; male; minimum age eighteen.
