Monotype (Combination) Operator Prevailing Offset Pressman Prevailing Offset Pressman and Plate Maker, Combination Prevailing Platen Pressman Prevailing Waitress Prevailing Senior Accountant-Statistician DEFINITION: Under supervision, t o perform responsible accounting and budgeting work; to m a p out and direct the tabulation and statistical treatment of data, to interpret the results thereof and present them in statistical reports; to plan, direct, conduct, and report studies and research on statistical-accountancy problems and on the relationships between statistical and accounting data. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O apply the techniques of accounting in determining unit costs and to develop new cost accounting procedures for major University functions, such as instruction and research; relate such unit cost data statistically to the basic factors which underlie them; interpret accounting records, such as budgets, accountants' reports, reconciliations, and inventory records, and relate them to statistical d a t a and to t h e measures, derived therefrom; collect, tabulate, and analyze accountancy and statistical data of various types, present the results in both graphic and tabular form, and summarize and interpret such data; originate and plan statisticalaccountancy studies and research; supervise the work of statistical and clerical workers; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: University graduation, or t h e equivalent, with training in basic mathematics, fundamentals of statistics, principles of economics and finance, and accountancy through cost accounting, preferably including either institutional or governmental accounting; one year of experience as clerk, bookkeeper, tabulating machine operator, or other work with records, data, and statistical reports; accuracy, integrity, good judgment, supervisory ability; minimum age twenty-one. Bindery Assistant DEFINITION: Under supervision of a foreman, to perform routine duties involved in Print Shop Bindery. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: To operate stitching machine; collate signatures; check prenumbered forms; gather multiple copies of forms; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Grade school graduation; ability to learn quickly; willingness to cooperate with foreman and other employees; good physical condition; minimum age eighteen. Physical Research Laboratory Assistant DEFINITION: Under general direction only, to perform duties requiring a high degree of skill in the design, construction, assembly, and operation of physics research equipment and to supervise others with less skill and experience in similar work. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O design specialized research equipment, including microtomes, cryostats, mechanical testing apparatus, high-temperature ovens, magnets, calorimeters; construct such apparatus in the machine shop; weld, hard and soft solder, and spin metals; operate specialized research apparatus such as high-temperature ovens, large magnets, cryogenic equipment, vacuum systems, cloud chambers, nuclear particle accelerators; assist in the making of electrical, optical, thermal, and mechanical measurements; operate standard and specialized cameras and process photographic materials; supervise others of less skill and experience in the operation of research equipment; advise others of less knowledge and experience concerning the properties of the materials of research; maintain equipment lists and material inventories; maintain records of tests; perform related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of college work in science or engineering, or equivalent shop a n d / o r research laboratory experience; skill and experience with machine tools and drafting equipment; knowledge of the properties of the materials of research; physical and mental ability to do and to supervise work on precision apparatus in a careful, efficient manner; minimum age twenty-five. Senior Tool Room Attendant DEFINITION: Under direction, t o be responsible for receipt, issuance, and custody of tools and equipment.
