On motion of Mr. Livingston, this resolution was adopted by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Doctor Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Stevenson.

CONTRACT FOR U N D E R G R O U N D SEWER ALTERATIONS AT DENTISTRY, MEDICINE, A N D PHARMACY BUILDING

(18) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $4,977 to George D. Hardin, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of sewage ejectors for the Research Laboratory and Library Unit of the Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy Building. The installation of new ejectors is necessary to relieve the overloaded condition of the sewage ejectors in the present general hospital building. At present, sewage from the Research Laboratory and Library Unit empties into the ejectors for the general hospital. Funds are available in the Physical Plant Department budget. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this contract was authorized as recommended.

CONTRACT FOR WATER SUPPLY FACILITIES AT DENTISTRY, M E D I C I N E , A N D PHARMACY BUILDING

(19) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $15,975 to Fettes, Love, and Sieben, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for installation of new water pumps, a pressure tank, piping changes, and a new supply line from the water mains to the first unit of the Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy Building. The pumps in the second unit of this building now service all units and are so overloaded that at times it is impossible to maintain adequate water pressure in the upper floors. Funds are available in the Physical Plant Department budget. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mr. Herrick, this contract was authorized as recommended.

CONTRACT FOR INSTALLATION OF FIRE ESCAPE ON BUILDING AT 1 7 1 6 WEST TAYLOR STREET, CHICAGO

(20) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $2,200 to the Parnell Iron Works, Inc., Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of a metal fire escape on the building at 1716 West Taylor Street, Chicago, to replace the present wooden one which has deteriorated and is unsafe. The building has been remodeled to provide offices for the Physical Plant Department and quarters for the Physical Plant Paint Shop. Funds are available in the state appropriation for "Construction of Utility Distribution System and remodeling of existing buildings," in Chicago. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract, subject to the release of funds by the Governor.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this contract was authorized as recommended.

CHANGE IN CONTRACT FOR REMODELING IN NATURAL HISTORY BUILDING

( i) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $1,520 in a contract with C. A. Petry and Sons, Champaign, for remodeling in the Natural History Building, this change being necessary to pro-
