CHANGE IN CONTRACT FOR PRINTING OF DENTAL POSTGRADUATE COURSE MANUAL

(12) On July 25, 1950 (Minutes, page 30), the Board approved a contract for $21,631 with the Neely Printing Company, Chicago, for printing manuals for the Dental Postgraduate Telephone Extension program. In the process of printing, certain changes were required which were not contemplated when specifications were issued. Items were deleted which had become outdated, new developments were added, and changes and additions of color were made after the first proof. The cost in excess of that authorized is $1,964.28. Funds are available in the income from fees for the postgraduate course to meet this additional cost. I recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to pay the Neely Printing Company a total of $23,595.28 on this contract. O n motion of Mr. Livingston, authority was given, as recommended.

GIFT OF MRS. THERESE GARNER

(13) The Comptroller reports that there have been received from Mrs. Therese Garner of Jackson, Mississippi, and deposited in safekeeping securities having at the date of receipt a market value of $39,730.26, which sum constitutes the gift of Mrs. Garner to endow the James Wilford Garner Fellowship in Political Science. T h i s report was received for record.

BEQUEST OF ELSIE JUSINA

(14) Under the last will and testament of Elsie Jusina of Chicago, who died on March 4, 1949, the University of Illinois was named as residuary beneficiary, with the sole restriction that the bequest be used for the Research and Educational Hospitals. Settlement of the estate has been completed, and the sum of $4,361.85 has been received. The Executive Committee of the Hospital has recommended and the VicePresident of the Professional Colleges has approved the use of these funds to purchase electroencephalographic equipment. I concur in this recommendation and request authority to accept the bequest and expend it for the purpose indicated. O n motion of M r . McLaughlin, the bequest was accepted and the use of the funds as recommended was authorized.
