PLAQUE IN EAST CHEMISTRY BUILDING

(22) The Department of Chemistry recommends that a bronze plaque be installed in the entrance to the East Chemistry Building dedicating the Laboratory of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to the memory of the late Professor Samuel Wilson Parr, a distinguished member of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois. The name of the building will remain East Chemistry Building. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Fornof, this recommendation was approved.

SALE OF OLNEY AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT FARM

(23) The University owns approximately ninety-six acres of land near Olney, Illinois, which has been in use since it was purchased in 1909 as an experimental fruit farm by the Department of Horticulture. The Head of the Department of Horticulture and the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station recommend that operation of this farm be discontinued and the land sold. To conclude its work the University will need a limited period of time, probably through the 1951 crop season, and this reservation should be made in the sale. I recommend that this matter be referred to the Committee on Agriculture with authorization to secure an appraisal and submit a recommendation to the Board as to selling price and conditions of the sale.
