CONTRACT FOR REMODELING IN GREGORY HALL (17) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for {7,840 to C. A. Petry and Sons, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for remodeling of two rooms in Gregory Hall to provide more adequate quarters for the Teacher Placement Office. The appropriation for this work is included in the recommendations of the Committee on Nonrecurring Appropriations which have been submitted separately. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mrs. Holt, this contract was authorized as recommended.

CHANGE IN CONTRACT FOR PIPING INSTALLATIONS IN POWER PLANT ADDITION (18) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the addition of #1,350 to the contract with the W. A. Pope Company, Chicago, for piping installations in the power plant addition to provide for the extension of the dust removal line from one smokestack to the other. This was not included in the original contract because t h e details required for the engineering and layout were not available until after completion of the drawings and specifications for the second chimney. Funds are available in the state appropriation for "Additions to Power and Heating Plant and remodeling of existing buildings." I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this change.

On motion of Mr. Herrick, authority was given as recommended.

ADDITION TO ELECTRICAL CONTRACT FOR ANIMAL SCIENCES LABORATORY (19) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend an increase of #4,322.18 in t h e contract with the Square Deal Electric Company for the electrical work in connection with the construction of the Animal Sciences Laboratory, to provide for the electrical installations required for additional ventilating equipment in three rooms, for the cost of additional electrical work required in the rearrangement of rooms and equipment changes in the third and fourth floors of the east wing. The contract changes have been checked by the architects and they report the price is a reasonable charge. Funds are available in the state appropriation for the construction of the building. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this contract addition.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, authority was given as recommended.

EASEMENT TO THE MEDICAL CENTER STEAM COMPANY (20) In connection with the construction of a distribution system for the Central Steam Company on the Professional Colleges campus in Chicago which is being constructed under a contract with the Commonwealth Edison Company, an easement is needed from the University to the Steam Company giving the Steam Company t h e right to construct certain tunnels and service pipes on land owned b y the University. The proposed easement has been approved by the Assistant to the Legal Counsel of the University, and the Comptroller and the Director of the Physical Plant recommend t h a t the easement be granted. I concur and request authorization for the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board to execute the necessary documents.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this easement was granted and authority was given as recommended.

AIR LINE SERVICE AT UNIVERSITY O F ILLINOIS AIRPORT (21) The Board of Trustees on June 22, 1950 (Minutes, page 1183), authorized a contract with t h e Parks Air Lines of East St. Louis for the use of University of Illinois Airport facilities in the operation of an air line service. This contract was assumed by the Ozark Air Lines when they took over t h e service. Ozark Air Lines
