Release No. 43 "For Equipment for buildings at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago" 25 000 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $680,000. T h e Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 2, 18, and 40) $134,603.65 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for the purchase of a motor generator to provide direct current electric service for use in research work at Urbana-Champaign. Release No. 44 "For Equipment for buildings at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago" 17 350 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $680,000. T h e Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 2, 18, 40, and 43) $ i 5 9 r 603.65 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for purchase of equipment for the Department of Bacteriology in the College of Medicine. Release No. 45 "For Permanent Improvements at Chicago — Construction of Utility Distribution System and remodeling of existing buildings" This is a partial release from an appropriation of $190,000. T h e Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 10, 26, 28, 35, and 38) $110,192 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for remodeling for the Department of Bacteriology in the College of Medicine.

Release No. 46 "For Equipment for buildings at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago" 11 300 This is a partial release from an appropriation of $680,000. T h e Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 2, 18, 40, 43, and 44) $176,953.65 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for purchase of microscopes for the Department of Medicine, and purchase of an infrared spectrophotometer for the Department of Biological Chemistry. I recommend that these funds be appropriated by the Board for the purposes indicated.

On motion of Mr. Herrick, these funds were appropriated, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Stevenson.

SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONRECURRING EXPENDITURES (9) The Committee on Nonrecurring Appropriations recommends assignments of funds as follows: Urbana-Champaign From funds budgeted for nonrecurring expenditures for equipment: 1. Equipment for the Department of A r t $ 3 200 2. Equipment for the Department of Botany 2 000 3. Remodeling in Woman's Gymnasium (installation of hardwood floor in basement area to increase its utility) 1 000 From the General Reserve Fund: 4. Dean of Students, for premium on malpractice insurance covering members of the Health Service Staff 1 680 5. Institute of Aviation, for improvements at the University of Illinois Airport 47 500 This will provide matching funds for federal and state aid. T h e State Department of Aeronautics has $45,000 which can be made available to the University and, subject to appropriation, the federal government will provide not to exceed $90,000.
