Purchases

(31) T h e president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. The list of purchases was presented in two categories: purchases from appropriated funds (i.e., from State appropriations to the University); and purchases from institutional funds. T h e latter term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. Federal Energy Conservation Grants, Chicago and Urbana

(32) An Institutional Buildings Grants Program was established by Congress under the National Energy Conservation Policy Act of 1978. The University has received funds under the program since 1980. The University again applied for funds under Cycle V of the program and has received a grant award of $2,514,531 in Fiscal Year 1984 for the projects listed in the following table.
