(12) A report of the following gifts received by the University since the last report: 1. Received by the Department of Electrical Engineering, the following items of equipment during the University year, 1937-1938: Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company—2 relays, estimated value $ no R. Hart, Central Illinois Light Company—1 rotating standard watthour meter, estimated value 90 1 old-type ammeter, estimated value 10 Sangamo Electric Company—2 Lincoln Demand meters, estimated value.. 60 Illinois-Iowa Power Company—I rotating standard watthour meter, estimated value 90 Western Electric Company, through Mr. O. Carpenter, 195 Broadway, New York, miscellaneous electrical equipment, including condensers, keys, networks, relays, telephone repeaters, repeat coils, resistances, retardation coils, coil assemblies, filters, panels, radio receiver, thermostat, ballast lamp, photoelectric cell, vacuum tubes, inductances, inductometers, insulators, receptacles, and an oscillator, of total value according to regular prices for college sale 4 660 Total estimated value $5 020 2. Under the will of the late Miss Mary McLellan of the Class of 1888, an oil portrait of Captain Alexander Hossack, for the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and a set of green and gold Cauldron china, for the Department of Ceramics. 3. Miss Julia Hayward, Tremont, Illinois, several early American antiques, including a cradle, a flax reel, saddle bags, a sand box, a dough box, and a trunk, for the Museum of European Culture. This report was received for record. PURCHASE OF SECURITIES FOR INVESTMENT OF ENDOWMENT FUNDS At this point, M r . Moschel reported that on advice of investment counsel, the Finance Committee recommends the purchase of the following securities as investments of endowment funds: $15,000 Commonwealth Edison 4's of '81 at 108 10,000 Mutual Fuel Gas 5's of '47 at 112% On motion of M r . Moschel, these investments w e r e authorized as recommended.
