University shall be paid from the mill tax fund, in so far as there shall be money in this fund, and the rest from the general revenue fund of the State, and that if the purposes originally contemplated can be secured by this or by some other appropriate mode, the bill to amend the allocation of the mill tax fund be not pressed further.

LEGISLATION TO TRANSFER S O U T H E R N ILLINOIS STATE NORMAL UNIVERSITY TO T H E UNIVERSITY O F ILLINOIS

(4) A bill was introduced in the 60th General Assembly on March 30 to provide for transfer of the management, operation, and control of the Southern Illinois State Normal University to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois to be operated as a branch of the latter. This bill was tabled by the House Committee on Education on April 8. This report was received for record.

LEGISLATION C O N C E R N I N G COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS

(5) A report that there has been introduced in the 60th General Assembly a bill to increase the number of County Scholarships by providing annually one scholarship in each county having a population of less than 40,000, as at present, two such scholarships in each county having a population of 40,000 or more but less than 80,000, and three scholarships in each county having a population of 80,000 or more. This would result in a maximum addition of 39 new scholarships a year and ultimately would increase the maximum number of annual County Scholarships which might be in use from 102 to 258. On motion of Mr. Cleary, the Board voted to go on record as opposing this bill.

ADJUSTMENTS IN BUDGET

(6) A report of the following adjustments made in the budget for 1936-1937 during the third fiscal quarter ending March 31, 1936, in accordance with the authorization of the Board of Trustees in adopting the budget. An assignment of $13,873 should be made from the General Reserve Fund to cover these items: Permanent additions to current budget: Supervision and high school instruction, salaries (increase in rate paid Henrietta P. Terry) $ 350 oo1 Physical education, salaries (adjustment to salaries of W. S. Wilson and S. C. Staley) 800 00'
