A T H L E T I C A S S O C I A T I O N ICE S K A T I N G R I N K (9) The following communication from Director George Huff, President of the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association: December 27, 1929 President David Kinley, 355 Administration, West Dear President Kinley: At the last meeting of the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association the following action was taken: "Mr. Hall moved that President Huff be instructed to withdraw the request of this Board for permission of the Board of Trustees to proceed with construction work on the ice skating rink until some future time. Motion seconded by Judge Harker and carried." Will you kindly submit this matter to the Board of Trustees at its next meeting? Yours very truly,

Director Permission to erect a skating rink on land owned by the University (corner of Armory Avenue and Fifth Street) was given the Athletic Association on April 12, 1928 (Minutes, page 586). O n motion of M r . Blair, this letter w a s received for record and the Athletic Association w a s permitted to withdraw its request.

BURRILL AVENUE

(10) I present a statement concerning the use of the name "Burrill Avenue" and request that i be referred to the Special Committee on the naming of campus streets t and drives. This matter w a s referred to the Special Committee as requested.

CANCELLATION OF CONTRACT WITH GENERAL TALKING PICTURES CORPORATION (DEFOREST PHONOF1LMS, INC.)

(n) The Legal Counsel reports that on November 30 there was delivered to the General Talking Pictures Corporation, 218 West Forty-second Street, N e w York City, a letter notifying them that the contract concerning the Kunz patent would be canceled in accordance with the provisions of the contract unless the delinquencies on the part of the corporation were cleared up within thirty days. This time limit expired December jo and the contract has, therefore, been canceled as of that date. This report w a s received for record.

NEGOTIATIONS WITH KNIGHT BROTHERS CONCERNING THE KUNZ PHOTO-ELECTRIC CELL PATENT

(12) A report from the Acting Comptroller that he has written Knight Brothers several times concerning the proposed purchase by one of their clients of the rights to the Kunz Photo-Electric Cell Patent (this question having been raised by Knight Brothers last year), but that the only information which he has been able to get is to the effect that they have not been able to obtain from their client the necessary information to advise us whether or not a proposal will be made. The Board at its meeting on June 11, 1928 (Minutes, page 256), voted that steps be taken to develop by correspondence the matter of a possible license to the clients of Knight Brothers subject to the license to DeForest Phonofilms, Inc. Since then the contract with the General Talking Pictures Corporation, successors to DeForest Phonofilms, Inc., has been terminated. This report w a s received for record.
