APPROPRIATION F O R PIANO F O R BROADCASTING STUDIO (5) On request of the Director of the Radio Station, Mr. Josef F. Wright, I recommend that an appropriation of $1,500, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purchase of a piano for the studio of our broadcasting station. PURCHASE OF G. R. SHERWOOD PROPERTY ON MAPLE AVENUE

(6) The Supervising Architect recommends the purchase of the G. R. Sherwood property on Maple Avenue, just across the street from the Cavalry stables, at a price of $3,700. This property joins on the East the Roland property, which the University purchased recently. The lot is 50 by somewhat over 100 feet, with a four room house. I concur in this recommendation and recommend further that an appropriation of $3,700 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose and that the Comptroller and Supervising Architect be authorized to make the purchase. PURCHASE OF COLLEGE PLACE LOT 65

(7) Professor James M . White, Supervising Architect, recommends that Lot 65 in College Place be purchased from E. W . Davis, the owner, for $8,300, the University to assume the remaining lighting assessments, amounting to $26.84, tne taxes for this year to be prorated between Mr. Davis and the University. The lot is 54x114 feet and all of it except 14.6 feet will be a part of North Drive on our property. I concur in the recommendation and request an appropriation of $8400, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to purchase this property at the price mentioned above, including the assessments mentioned, to be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund. Small. SALE OF HOUSE AT 1 02 SOUTH GOODWIN AVENUE

(8) The Supervising Architect reports that in connection with the re-laying and extension of the switch tracks into our coal yard, it becomes necessary to move the house at 102 South Goodwin Avenue, and requests authority to advertise this house for sale and to sell it to the highest bidder. I recommend that this house be advertised for sale and sold to the highest bidder by the Comptroller and the Supervising Architect. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this recommendation w a s adopted.

PLANS FOR MATERIALS TESTING LABORATORY

(9) The Supervising Architect requests authority to consult Mr. Garden of Schmidt, Garden & Erikson in working out the design for the exterior of the Materials Testing Laboratory. Professor White estimates that the cost will be not more than one thousand dollars, to be paid from the appropriation for the building.
