A P P O I N T M E N T O F ASSISTANT P R O F E S S O R H A R R Y LEVY (23) On recommendation of Professor Townsend and Dean Babcock, I recommend the appointment, under the University regulations, of Dr. Harry Levy, at present a research fellow of the National Research Council, as Assistant Professor of Mathematics for two years from September I, 1927, at a cash compensation of $3,000 a year. O n motion of M r . Barr, this appointment w a s m a d e .

CHANGE IN LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR H. N. HILLEBRAND

(24) Associate Professor H. N. Hillebrand, who was given sabbatical leave of absence for 1927-28 on November 20, 1926 (page 176), has requested that the following modificatbns in his plans for the year be authorized: (1) that for thefirsthalf of the year 1927-28 he be permitted to be absent without pay to enable him to accept a teaching position elsewhere for thefirstsemester; and (2) that for the second half of the year he be allowed sabbatical leave on one-half pay, with the understanding that such leave satisfies all claim on his part for sabbatical privileges up to September 1, 1928. I acquiesce in this request and ask approval. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this recommendation w a s approved. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR TYKOCINER (25) On recommendation of Dean Ketchum, I recommend that Professor J. T. Tykociner, Research Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, be given a sabbatical leave of absence on half salary for the academic year 1927-28, under the University rule. O n motion of D r . Noble, this leave w a s granted.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE OF PROFESSOR D. K. DODGE

(26) A statement concerning the leave of absence, on account of illness, of Professor Daniel Kilham Dodge. O n motion of D r . Noble, Professor Dodge's leave at one-half salary, on account of illness, w a s extended one year from September 1, 1927, with the understanding that he shall be retired under the rules at the expiration of this additional year's leave.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DR. O. E. NADEAU

(27) A recommendation that Dr. 0. E. Nadeau, Assistant Professor of Surgery, be given leave of absence, with pay, from April 25 to July 1, 1927, to enable him to go abroad to visit several surgical clinics during that time. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MISS EMMA JUTTON (28) A recommendation that Miss Emma Jutton, Loan Librarian, be given leave of absence for two weeks beginning April 15, on full pay, in lieu of any vacation last summer. Miss Jutton took no vacation because of the work preparatory to moving into the new building. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this leave was granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MISS A. L. MAXWELL (29) A recommendation that the request of Miss Annie Lou Maxwell, Extension Specialist and Associate in Home Furnishings, for permission to extend her vacation period through August without pay as she wishes to go to Paris to study interior decoration and architecture, be approved. Dean Mumford recommends this. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this leave w a s granted.
