School of Pharmacy for the degree of Pharmaceutical Chemist and that one semester hour of credit be given for the successful completion of this work. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this recommendation w a s adopted.

MODIFICATIONS OF REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRANCE CREDIT IN BOOKKEEPING AND HOME ECONOMICS

(18) The University Senate recommends a slight change in the requirements for entrance credit in bookkeeping and home economics. (1) Bookkeeping—Add to the present statements: "Credit to the amount of one unit in Bookkeeping may be granted also for not less thanfive45 minute periods through the year, with prepared work done outside of class, in those schools in which the subject is taught by teachers who have had at least twelve semester hours of accountancy in college or in afirst-classbusiness school, this amount being that prescribed for commercial teachers at the University of Illinois." (2) H o m e Economics—Rescind requirement that the two courses in food and in clothing be prerequisites for the course in home management, provided that this latter course be specially designed for eleventh and twelfth grade students, and that one-half unit of credit in this same course in home management be allowed when it is taken with another one-half unit in home economics as is now done for the courses in food and in clothing. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r . Barr, these modifications were approved. APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS OF THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (19) A request for authority to appoint to the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association for the year 1927-1928 the present incumbents, namely: Mr. George Huff, Champaign Professor G. A. Goodenough, Urbana Mr. Eugene I. Burke, Champaign Mr. Jack Powers, Decatur Judge O. A. Harker, Champaign O n motion of D r . Noble, the President of the University w a s authorized to appoint these directors. APPOINTMENT OF MR. F. HAROLD NAEGELE TO THE PLYM FELLOWSHIP IN ARCHITECTURE (20) The Plym Fellowship Committee recommends that Mr. F. Harold Naegele o f the class of 1925 be appointed the Fourteenth Francis J. Plym Fellow in Architecture. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of D r . Noble, this appointment w a s m a d e . RESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR A. B. COBLE (21) A report that Dr. Arthur B. Coble, Professor of Mathematics, has resigned from the staff, effective September 1, 1927, in order to accept a position at Johns Hopkins University. This report w a s received for record. APPOINTMENT OF DR. FLOYD A. SPENCER, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CLASSICS (22) On recommendation o Dean Babcock, I recommend that Dr. Floyd A. Spenf cer, at present Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Department of Greek at Ohio Wesleyan University, be appointed Assistant Professor of Classics for one year from September 1, 1927, at a salary of $3,000.
