MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT K1NLEY The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. DISCONTINUANCE OF VIENNA EXPERIMENT FIELD (1) Dean H. W. Mumford, of the College of Agriculture, recommends, on the request of Doctor W. L. Burlison, of the Department of Agronomy, that the Vienna Experiment Field be discontinued. I recommend that this experiment f e d be discontinued and that the land il be sold. O n motion of M r . Trees, these recommendations were adopted. DISCONTINUANCE OF THE PANA SOIL EXPERIMENT FIELD (2) On recommendation of Dean H. W . Mumford, of the College of Agriculture, at the request of Dr. W . L. Burlison, I recommend that the Pana Soil Experiment Field be discontinued and that the owners of the field be notified of the discontinuance. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, these recommendations were adopted. L E A V E O F A B S E N C E F O R MISS J A N E W A T T (3) A recommendation that Miss Jane Watt, instructor in Music, be granted sick leave from November I to December 31 without reduction of salary, save for such amount as may be necessary to compensate outside instructors, as recommended by the Director of the School of Music and approved by the President. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this recommendation was adopted.

PURCHASE OF LOT 160 IN COLLEGE PLACE

(4) In accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees on September 26 and October 18, the Comptroller reports that he has purchased Lot 160 in College Place from Olie Allen for the sum of $8,750, subject to general taxes for 1924 and unpaid lighting assessments. This report was received for record. HEATING AND WATER EQUIPMENT IN RESEARCH AND E D U C A T I O N A L HOSPITAL (5) The Supervising Architect, Professor James M. White, informs me that the heating arrangements and the arrangements for the water supply in the Research Hospitals are inadequate. He states that the stack will develop only about half the capacity of which the boiler i capable so that i will be necessary either to put up s t a new stack or put in a fan providing induced draft. The cost of each improvement will be about $700. As these improvements are needed at once, in order that our work may go forward, I recommend an appropriation of $1400, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. O n motion of M r s . Blake, this recommendation was approved and the appropriation was m a d e by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r s . Blake, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, M r . Noble, M r . Trees, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . Small. REGULATIONS CONCERNING AUTOMOBILES (6) A recommendation that the following regulations prepared by the Supervising Architect for the control of automobile traffic on the Campus be approved in accordance with the action of September 26, 1924:
