rest with the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and this approval must be obtained before an effort i made by the commission to secure s portraits. b. After the approval of the Board of Trustees has been granted it shall be the duty of the commission to secure the portraits for the University from the family or friends of the persons selected. IV. Induction Into the Memorial Induction into the Agricultural Memorial shall not be during the life of the person so honored. V. Personnel of the Commission a. Selection The President of the University of Illinois, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, and the President of the Illinois Farmers' Institute shall be ex-officio members of the Commission. The remaining six members of the first commission shall be nominated by the ex-officio members of the commission. Final approval of the personnel of the commission shall rest with the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. b. Term of Service The term of service of the commission shall be indefinite. c. Vacancies on the Commission Nomination for vacancies on the commission shall be made by the remaining members of the commission and shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Ralph Allen, President of the Illinois Farmers' Institute, Dean H. W . M u m ford, and I had a conference on this whole matter, and the plan here outlined meets the approval of us all. I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the above plan, and that the present portraits in the Farmers' Hall of Fame be transferred to the Agricultural Memorial when the latter has been established. I further recommend that the following gentlemen be requested to serve on the commission, whose duty it will be to make nominations for the Agricultural Memorial and to secure the portraits for the University: Hon. Henry M . Dunlap, Savoy Hon. A. H. Sanders, Chicago Hon. A. N. Abbott, Morrison Hon. O. W . Hoit, Geneseo Hon. J. R. Fulkerson, Jerseyville Hon. C. C. Pervier, Sheffield O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this matter w a s referred to the Committee on Agriculture, for consideration and report at the next meeting of the Board. PERMISSION FOR MISS ELIZABETH BRYAN TO BE ABSENT (19) A recommendation that Miss Elizabeth Bryan, Loan Assistant in the University Library, be permitted to be absent without pay for three months from February 1, 1924, to permit her to take a trip abroad. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this recommendation w a s adopted. PERMISSION FOR MISS ANNA C. GLOVER TO BE ABSENT (20) A recommendation that Miss Anna C. Glover, Secretary of the Agricultural Experiment Station, be permitted to be absent (with pay) from November 26 to December 31, 1923, because of illness. On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, this recommendation was adopted.

PERMISSION FOR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR A. W. NOLAN TO BE ABSENT

(21) A recommendation that Associate Professor A. W. Nolan be absent during the month of January, 1924, because of his own condition of health, and in order that he may spend the time with Mrs. Nolan who has been ordered by her physician to spend the winter in Florida.
