BOARD OF TRUSTEES

REMODELING PHARMACY BUILDING ( i ) The plans for remodeling the Pharmacy Building, and a schedule of bids, with a recommendation that contracts be awarded as follows: General contract, R. S. Wood & Co $11,104 Heating, A. Kilander & Co 2,350 Plumbing, M. J. Corboy 1,115 Wiring, Freeman-Sweet Co 1,521 Total $16,090 Professor White recommends also that the sum of $15,785 he appropriated for furniture, fixtures, painting, and other reconstructions. Professor White explained in detail the matters covered by this appropriation. On motion of Mr. Small, the contracts were awarded and appropriations made as recommended. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Small, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Trevett. DESIGN, HORTICULTURE BUILDING (2) A design of a group of buildings proposed for the department of horticulture. Professor White explained the design and plans. No action was taken. ELECTRICAL CONTRACT, WOMEN'S RESIDENCE HALL (3) A communication from Professor J. M. White stating that the Haas Electric Company, to whom the contract for electric wiring for the Women's Residence Hall was awarded (see minutes, June 13, 1916, page 817), had requested to be released from their offer. The Caldwell Electric Company, the next lowest bidder, have offered to reduce the amount of their bid $190 and either to reimburse the Haas Electric Company for the amount of their certified check (eighty dollars) in case the Board should see fit to forfeit the same, or to allow the University a further reduction of the same amount. On the latter basis their net bid is $2,720 compared with $2,599.10, the bid of the Haas Electric Company, an advance of $120.90. Professor White recommends that the contract be awarded to the Caldwell Company on this basis and that the certified check of the Hass Electric Company be returned to them. On motion of Mr. Hoit, this recommendation was concurred in. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Small, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Trevett,
