1911] PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. SCHOLARSHIPS IN LAW. 67 3. A communication from Dean O. A. Harker of the College of Law, requesting that the Board of Trustees authorize the assignment from year to year, until otherwise directed, to students in the College of> Law, of four scholarship prizes of fifty dollars ($50.00) each, and four scholarship prizes of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each, in accordance with the plan hitherto pursued, and that this rule shall apply to the year 1910-11, as well as to subsequent years. I t was voted t h a t the foregoing request he granted and that the appropriation involved he made. NUTRITION INVESTIGATION. 4. A request from Professor H. S. Grindley, that the balance of the unappropriated funds of the Research Laboratory and Veterinary College appropriation be now assigned to the Research Laboratory for the purpose of furthering the completion of the saltpeter investigation and the publication of the report of this investigation; and a further recommendation that the University authorities be authorized to let a contract to R. R. Donnelley & Sons for the printing of Volume III of the Studies in Nutrition, in accordance with the plans submitted by Professor Grindley. I t was voted t h a t said appropriation be made, and t h a t the authority requested be given. USE OF CAMPUS DRIVEWAYS BY VEHICLES. 5. The following communication from Dr. E. J. Townsend, secretary of the Councir of Administration, concerning recommendations for the use of the driveways on the campus by vehicles: Nov. 30, 1910. Dr. E. J. James, President: DEAE SIR—At the meeting of the Council of Administration on Nov. 29, 1910, it was voted to request you to transmit to the Board of Trustees the following recommendation looking to the better regulation of the use of the driveways of the campus by vehicles: That the John Street and California Avenue entrances to the campus be closed; that' Burrill avenue be closed south of the Auditorium; and that a notice barring automobiles and motorcycles be posted at the entrance of Burrill avenue on the south side of Green street. Very respectfully yours, E. J. TOWNSEND, Secretary. Attention was called to the fact t h a t this matter had been left to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, with power to act. BILL FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT. 6. A recommendation from Professor W. J. Fraser of the Department of Dairy Husbandry, endorsed by Dean Eugene Davenport of the College of Agriculture,, that the University pay a bill of thirty dollars ($30.00) for medical treatment incurred by Mr. Crouch, who severed the tendon of one of his fingers on the" back of his left hand in putting the knives on the ensilage cutter at the University farm; this bill to be charged to dairy funds. I t was voted t h a t this appropriation be made.
