Meeting of the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met after the adjournment of the board on the evening of Tuesday, January 17, 1911, in the LaSalle Hotel, Chicago. The members of the committee present were President Abbott and Mr. Grout; Mr. Hatch, of the committee, was absent. Mesdames Bahrenburg, Busey, and Evans, and Mr. Hoit, members of the board, and President James were present. - President James presented the following matters for consideration: IMPORT ORDER FOR CHEMICALS. 1. A request from Professor W. A. Noyes of the Department of Chemistry, approved hy Dean E. J. Townsend of the College of Science, for authority to place an importation order for chemicals and apparatus for the Department of Chemistry for the academic year 1911-12 to an amount not exceeding ten thousand dollars. ($10,000.00). I t was voted t h a t said authority be given. RULES FOR PLYM FELLOWSHIP IN ARCHITECTURE. 2. A recommendation that the following he adopted hy the Board of Trustees as rules of procedure in the administration of the Francis J. Plym Fellowship in Architecture. (1) That the Fellowship be assigned annually, and that the stipend thereof be one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), said amount to be provided from funds supplied by Mr. Plym. The expenses of administering the fellowship are to be met from departmental funds until otherwise provided for. (2) That the Fellowship be assigned for the present to graduates of the Department of Architecture in the University of Illinois, provided a suitable candidate can be found among such graduates who will accept said Fellowship. (3) That a committee consisting of five members, two of whom shall be ex officio, shall be constituted, to be known as the Francis J. Plym Fellowship Committee. The ex officio members shall be the head of the Department of Architecture in the University of Illinois and the president of the Illinois chapter of the American Institute of Architects; the remaining three members shall be appointed by the president of the University, each appointee to serve one year, beginning October 1; the members first appointed to serve from the date of their appointment to Oct. 1, 1911. The duties of the committee shall be to recommend rules for administering the Fellowship and to nominate a candidate for said Fellowship to the Board of Trustees. (4) That the first candidate for the Francis J. Plym Fellowship shall be nominated not later than May 1, 1911, in the expectation that when appointed he may enter upon the Fellowship at a date to be recommended by said committee and approved by the Board of Trustees. This recommendation was approved and the rules adopted.
