Mr. M c L e a n offered t h e following resolution, w h i c h was a d o p t e d : Besolved, That the Committee on Buildings and Grounds is hereby authorized, after advising with the architect and comparing the bids which have been received, and investigating the responsibilities and qualifications of bidders, to enter into a contract for the erection of a President's house with the responsible bidder whose proposition shall be found most favorable to the University. O n m o t i o n of Mr. M o r g a n , $175.00 was a p p r o p r i a t e d for h e a t i n g , Professor D a v e n p o r t ' s house. T h e C o m m i t t e e on B u i l d i n g s a n d G r o u n d s was a u t h o r i z e d to ext e n d water m a i n s . T h e F i n a n c e C o m m i t t e e m a d e t h e following r e p o r t s w i t h r e g a r d to t h e T r e a s u r e r ' s report, a n d u p o n t h e v o u c h e r s of t h e E x p e r i m e n t S t a t i o n , a n d t h e y were severally a d o p t e d :

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN: Your Committee on Finance begs leave to report that it has examined the report submitted by the Treasurer, Mr. C. W. Spalding, bearing date August 31, 1895. This report shows balance on hand May 31, 1895, of $55,148.57, and a total of balance and receipts to date of $278,681.75. It shows expenditures amounting to $90,544.73; balances, $195,812.11; overdrafts, $7,675.09, making a total of expenditures, balances, and overdrafts, of $278,681.75. Respectfully submitted,
