T h e r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s of t h e r e p o r t as t o a p p o i n t m e n t s a n d sala r i e s were approved, a n d t h e a p p o i n t m e n t s were made; Professor F o r b e s was a u t h o r i z e d t o m a k e a t r i p for t h e p u r p o s e of e x a m i n i n g o t h e r biological stations, a n d it was voted t h a t t h e expenses of such t r i p s h o u l d b e p a i d from t h e a p p r o p r i a t i o n s for t h e e q u i p m e n t of t h e S t a t i o n . T h e s t a t i o n o n t h e I l l i n o i s R i v e r was given t h e n a m e of t h e U n i v e r s i t y of Illinois Biological E x p e r i m e n t S t a t i o n , as requested. A p p r o p r i a t i o n s of funds t o t h e S t a t e L a b o r a t o r y of N a t u r a l H i s t o r y were m a d e as follows, for t h e q u a r t e r b e g i n n i n g J u l y 1, 1895:

O n motion of .Mr. M c L e a n , a n a s s i g n m e n t of a sufficient a m o u n t of funds was m a d e t o p a y t h e taxes on M i n n e s o t a lands. O n m o t i o n of M r . M c L e a n , t h e following resolution was a d o p t e d : Eesolved, That the President and Secretary be directed to draw upon the Auditor of Public Accounts such orders as the law requires in order that he may issue to the Treasurer of the University his warrants upon the State Treasurer for the amounts appropriated by the legislature to the University of Illinois, and to the State Laboratory of Natural History. Eesolved, That the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois be. and is, hereby authorized to receive and receipt for all moneys, and to endorse all orders, drafts and checks due and payable to the said Board of Trustees, or to the said University of Illinois, and especially all drafts drawn by the Treasurer of the United States payable to said Board of Trustees or to said University of Illinois, on account of the Agricultural Experiment Station of the said University. A n a p p r o p r i a t i o n of $1,000.00 for a lecture course was m a d e on a p p r o v a l of t h e F i n a n c e Committee. A n a p p r o p r i a t i o n of $25.00 was m a d e for t h e p u r c h a s e of m a t e r i a l for fences o n t h e s o u t h farm. B y r e q u e s t of Mr. G r a h a m , Mr. M c L e a n occupied t h e chair for t h e rest of t h e session.
