To the Trustees of the Illinois State University. GENTLEMEN: At a meeting of the Illinois State Board of Health, held im the city of Chicago, June 25, 1805, the committee on the administration of themedical practice act, reported the following: Your committee would recommend, that in case satisfactory arrangementscan be made with the Trustees of the University of Illinois 2 all applicants for matriculation in medical colleges of whom an examination is required, be examined by and present certificates from the Faculty of that institution as a condition of matriculation. The committee was instructed to confer with the Trustees of the Universityof Illinois and request them to cooperate with the State Board of Health in the manner above indicated. In view of this action, the committee would respectfully request that your Board take such action at your present meeting. Very respectfully,

M c L e a n offered t h e following p r e a m b l e a n d resolution, w h i c h were a d o p t e d : WHEREAS, This Board deems the matter referred to in the foregoing communication from the State Board of Health, of great importance to the medical profession of the State of Illinois, therefore be it Eesolved, That this Board grants the request of said committee and instructs the Faculty of the University to conduct the proposed examinations, the matter being in charge of the President of the University and the Deans, who are directed to report a plan for said examinations, and suggestions in relation thereto to this Board at its next meeting. T h e B o a r d t h e n took a recess to meet at 2:30 p . m. W h e n t h e B o a r d convened after recess, P r e s i d e n t G r a h a m p r e s e n t ed a c o m m u n i c a t i o n from t h e U r b a n a a n d C h a m p a i g n E l e c t r i c S t r e e t K a i l w a y C o m p a n y , a s k i n g f u r t h e r consideration of its request, formerly presented, t h a t t h e c o m p a n y b e p e r m i t t e d to e x t e n d its railway line s o u t h from t h e t e r m i n u s of W r i g h t street across t h e U n i v e r s i t y farm to t h e road r u n n i n g east a n d west between t h e U n i v e r s i t y g r o u n d s a n d t h e cemetery. O n motion of Mr. M o r g a n , t h e r e q u e s t of t h e railway c o m p a n y for p e r m i s s i o n to m a k e such extension across U n i v e r s i t y l a n d s was d e nied.
