W Mae Graham, instructor in library science, College of William and Ma, was chairman of the resolutions committee for the School Libraries Section Arthur E. Gropp, M.A. '31, librarian of the Tulane Middle Ameii Research department, and Mrs. Gropp, sailed January 27th for six months field work in connection with a survey of all libraries and archives in Cent, America, the West Indies, the Bermuda Islands, and several points on thi North Coast of South America. The survey is financed by the RockefelB Foundation and will take two years, alternate six-month periods being spa] in the field and in the library of the Middle American Research department New Orleans. In order to get the proper perspective for his data, Mr. Grq will also make brief community surveys in the places where he finds librari or archives. This project is expected to be the most comprehensive survey ev attempted in the Latin-Americas and will make the library of the department ofl Middle American Research at Tulane, already the finest library in itsfield,tbl center for information on Latin-American research sources. Results of thi survey will be published as a guide to Middle American Libraries and Archive* Mr. Gropp is also chairman of the A.L.A. committee on library co-operatM with Latin-America. This committee hopes for a library survey of all Latir America. I Julia Grothaus, librarian of the San Antonio Public Library, is now a « librarian of the Bexar county library, and has recently extended the coun service contracts based on sound economic arrangements. j E. Joanna Hagey, librarian at Cedar Rapids, was appointed to the Planning] Committee of the Iowa Library Association. Edna K. Harlan, assistant in charge of the foreign language librarie:the University of Iowa, has been elected secretary of the Iowa City Libra Club. | Harold W. Hayden, supervisor of departmental libraries, University Iowa, was elected chairman of the Junior Member's Round Table of the Iov Library Association which met at Des Moines, November 4, 1936. James J. Hill, assistant librarian, University of Oklahoma, was elect* president of the Oklahoma Library Association at Shawnee, Okla., October, 19* Alma Hook, head cataloger of the University of Maryland was secret, ot the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia Regional Group Latalogers and Classifiers. They held their annual dinner in Washington o^ December 6, 1936. J Marie M Hostetter, assistant professor of library science, University Illinois, presided over the meeting of the Professional Section at Richmond and was elected chairman of the School Libraries Section for the current year.
