DEDICATION OF RIGHT OF WAY ON ELIZABETHTOWN SOIL EXPERIMENT FIELD FOR PUBLIC ROAD PURPOSES (26) The State Division of Highways has requested additional land at the Elizabethtown Soil Experiment Field in Hardin County so that the road running across the experiment field can be improved. The proposed improvements have been discussed by representatives of the Agricultural Experiment Station with Highway Division officials and the major disadvantages of the proposal have been eliminated. The Division of Highways has agreed to pay the University $600 for the cost of constructing new fences. The Dean of the College of Agriculture and the Comptroller recommend that the following described property be conveyed and dedicated to the People of the state of Illinois for the purpose of a public highway for so long as used for that purpose; All that strip of land 120 feet wide, 60 feet northwesterly of and 60 feet southeasterly of the located centerline of F.A. Route 35 as relocated in 1951. Said strip to begin at the west line of the said JLyi SE^4 Section 14, Sta. 104 02 on said centerline and to extend in a northeasterly direction to a line normal to said centerline at Sta. 110 00, a distance of 598 feet as measured along said centerline; thence continuing with All that strip of land bounded on the northwest by a line situated 60 feet distant northwesterly from and parallel to said centerline and bounded on the southeast by a straight line passing through a point located 60 feet distant southeasterly from said Sta. 110 00 as measured normal to said centerline at said Sta. n o 00 and passing through a second point in the north-south fence at Sta. 112 78 on said centerline located 190 feet southerly from said centerline as measured along said fence and the northerly prolongation thereof. Said strip to begin at said line normal to said centerline at Sta. n o 00 and to extend in a northeasterly direction to said north-south fence at Sta. 112 78 and to the north-south fence at Sta. 112 43, a distance of 278 feet as measured along said centerline. It is intended that the above described right of way shall extend across the property of the Grantor herein. The location of said centerline and of the stationing thereon is filed in the Hardin County Recorders Office in Miscellaneous Record 4, pages 240-247, inclusive. Containing 2.1 Acres, more or less. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the necessary documents, when approved by the Legal Counsel.

On motion of Mr. Hickman, this conveyance was authorized by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Grange, Mr. Hickman, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Megran, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins; no, none; absent, Mr. Herrick, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Stevenson.

APPOINTMENT OF ROBBEN W. FLEMING AS DIRECTOR OF T H E INSTITUTE OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

The Executive Committee reports approval, on recommendation of the President of the University, of the appointment of Robben W. Fleming, Director of the Industrial Relations Center at the University of Wisconsin, to the position of Director of the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations for two years, and Professor of Labor and Industrial Relations on indefinite tenure, beginning September 1, 1952, at an annual salary of $11,000 on Y basis.

INVESTMENTS

The Finance Committee reports the purchase of sixty-seven shares of Walgreen Company common stock at $28, total $1,897.46, as a student loan fund investment.
