APPROPRIATION BY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (9) The Board of Directors of the Athletic Association has approved an appropriation of $3,000 to cover expenses of participation in the N.C.A.A. Gymnastics Championships on April 2 and 3, 1954. Most of this amount will be recovered from a share of receipts from the tournament. This appropriation is submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval. O n m o t i o n of M r . N i c k e l l , t h i s a p p r o p r i a t i o n w a s a p p r o v e d . RENEWAL OF RUBBER RESEARCH CONTRACT (10) On December 1, 1942, the University entered into Contract Rur-SR-95 with the Rubber Reserve Corporation of the United States government for an investigation in synthetic rubber. This contract has been renewed since that time and, to the present termination date of June 30, 1954, total contract funds have amounted to $1,445,000. This sum has provided for all direct costs which the University has been put to in this program, plus an allowance covering all indirect costs incurred. Authority is requested by the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to renew this contract for one year from July I, 1954, with total funds to be received by the University in the estimated amount of $136,000. The Acting Comptroller concurs. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r s . W a t k i n s , a u t h o r i t y w a s g i v e n a s r e c o m m e n d e d . CONTRACT FOR FLOOR IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY ( u ) The Acting Comptroller and the Director of the Physical Plant Department recommend the award of a contract for $11,385 to C. A. Petry & Sons, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for installation of a new floor for the Thermal Radiation Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory.
