Further consideration of this matter was postponed.

LETTERS FROM J O H N H. LYLE A N D DONALD L. KEMMERER

President Livingston reported that he had received letters from Mr. John H. Lyle, Attorney, Chicago, Illinois, and one from Professor Donald L. Kemmerer of the Department of Economics relating to certain matters of Board of Trustees policy, and that he was referring these letters to the Committee on General Policy for appropriate consideration.

COMMITTEE ON NONACADEMIC PERSONNEL

Mr. Grange, for the Committee on Civil Service and Employees, offered the following amendment of the By-Laws of the Board:

As Chairman of the Committee on Civil Service and Employees, I propose t h a t Article IV, Section 6, of the By-Laws be amended by striking from the list of regular or standing committees t h e words "Civil Service and Employees" and inserting in lieu thereof the words "Nonacademic Personnel."

On motion of Mr. Grange, this amendment was adopted by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Grange, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Megran, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins; no, none; absent, Mr. Stevenson.

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS LEGISLATION

The Secretary of the Board reported, as a matter of official information and record, that he has received certified copies of the following acts of the Sixty-seventh General Assembly of Illinois, making appropriations to the University:

SENATE BILL 399. "An Act to provide for the ordinary and contingent expenses of the University of Illinois." (Approved by the Governor.) This is t h e appropriation for the operation of t h e University for the two years beginning July 1, 1951.
