and veteran's preference and naturalization papers; interview job applicants from viewpoint of an employer to ascertain what work is best suited for his particular abilities; make contacts with department heads or employing agency to ascertain requirements of position; become thoroughly acquainted with job classifications, salary ranges, essential elements of the job, position control, future requirements, and condition of the labor market; make studies of employment possibilities; contact employers to sell them services of the personnel office; select applicants best suited to the position and refer them to the employer or department head for consideration and selection; complete necessary follow-up procedures if the person is employed; advise applicants as to type of work for which they are best fitted; occasionally supervise a clerical staff assigned to assist in this work. QUALIFICATIONS: University graduation, or training and experience which offsets lack of college degree; practical experience in a personnel program desirable; thorough knowledge of interview practices and procedures; administrative ability; tact; integrity; ability to deal effectively and harmoniously with the general public, employers, faculty, and staff; minimum age twenty-one. Assistant Blueprint Machine Operator DEFINITION: Under supervision, to assist in blueprinting and in Ozalid positive printing. DUTIES BY EXAMPLE: T O assist in making blueprints; in operating the Ozalid black line machine; in making black line, brown line, blue line and other positive prints on the Ozalid machine. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; experience in blueprinting preferable; good physical condition; minimum age eighteen. Bookkeeping Machine Operator II DEFINITION: Under administrative supervision, to be responsible for the operation of bookkeeping machines and related functions. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O be able to operate, with minimum supervision, bookkeeping machines, typewriters, adding machines, and other machines necessary in an accounting office; to supervise others in the operation of such machines and in procedures relating to accounts; to answer questions from the public as to University accounts; to perform highly technical work required by use of bookkeeping machines; be responsible for the clerical and mechanical duties related to the operation of such machines; make reports; keep records; perform related supervisory work as required. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; at least two years' experience in the operation of bookkeeping machines; supervisory ability; high clerical aptitude; dexterity as required; minimum age twenty. Bookkeeping Machine Operator I DEFINITION: Under supervision, to perform work requiring skill in the operation of standard bookkeeping machines. DUTIES BY EXAMPLE: Under supervision, to operate bookkeeping machines; prepare material for posting; filing; operate a typewriter; keep records; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; special training and proficiency in the operation of bookkeeping machines desirable; high clerical aptitude; manual dexterity; minimum age sixteen. Duplicating Machine Operator III DEFINITION: Under supervision, to be responsible for, and to perform, complicated duplicating operations. D U T I E S BY EXAMPLE: T O operate duplicating machines such as mimeograph, ditto, multilith, and multigraph; train and supervise subordinates in the proper operation, adjustment, and care of duplicating, paper cutting, folding, and punching machines; make adjustments and repairs to, and operate and care for, said machines; requisition necessary supplies; be responsible for files; perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; training and proficiency in the operation of duplicating machines; at least one year of experience in operation of duplicating machines; mechanical ability; supervisory ability; good health; minimum age twenty-one.
