QUARTERLY REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER

(20) The Comptroller presents his quarterly report to the Board as of September 30, 1950.

This report was received for record.

SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONRECURRING EXPENDITURES

(21) The Committee on Nonrecurring Appropriations recommends assignments of funds as follows: 1. Equipment for the secretarial training program in the College of Commerce and Business Administration $ 1 480 2. Equipment for 404 South Mathews (College of Education) 2 920 3. Equipment to start Visual Aids Center 13 53° 4. Equipment for the Department of Psychology 25 000 5. Equipment and construction on the Illini Grove Picnic Area (Old Forestry Grounds) 25 000 6. Purchase of theatre-type seats for Room 138, Electrical Engineering Building 4 ooo 7. Alterations and equipment in Floriculture Building 10 850 8. Additional remodeling and equipment for Noyes Laboratory 86 000 9. Remodeling in Talbot Laboratory 5 500 10. Additional funds for University Research Board 50 000 11. Physical Plant Department 9 700 Remodeling of rooms in Bevier Hall, $1,700 (this supplements an appropriation of $9,500 made by the Executive Committee of the Board on August 29, 1950). Remodeling of Davenport House for the Health Service, $3,350 (this supplements an appropriation of $3,200 made by the Board on September 29, 1950). Remodeling in Natural History, Building and Harker Hall, $4,650 (this supplements an appropriation of $15,500 made by the Board on July 25, 195°)It is recommended that an assignment for Item 1 be made from funds budgeted for Nonrecurring Equipment and Remodeling Unassigned and that assignments for the other items be made from the General Reserve Fund. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, these appropriations were made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Doctor Meyer, Mr. Stevenson.

CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GREENHOUSE AT DRUG PLANT EXPERIMENT STATION

(22) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of the following contracts for construction of buildings at the Drug Plant Experiment Station at Lisle, Illinois: General work and head house — Federal Remodeling and Building Company, Chicago $47 948 Greenhouse construction —• Ickes-Braun Greenhouse Manufacturing Company, Chicago 13 650 Total $61 508 These are the lowest bidders in each case. The Board of Trustees on January 12, 1950 (Minutes, page 970), made an appropriation of $65,000 for construction of buildings at the Drug Plant Research Station. A supplementary appropriation of $4,000 is required. An analysis of the funds required for this project is given in the accompanying report of the Committee on Nonrecurring Appropriations. I recommend that the supplementary appropriation be made and that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute these contracts.
