PAYMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN WATER RATES LITIGATION

(13) The Board of Trustees has authorized the employment by the University, jointly with the cities of Urbana and Champaign, of the firm of George Rossetter and Company, Chicago, certified public accountants, and the law firm of Milliken, Vollers, and Parsons, Chicago, to represent the interests of the cities and of the University in hearings before the Illinois Commerce Commission on an application by the Northern Illinois Water Corporation for an increase iu water rates. The University is to pay 30 per cent of the cost of these professional services. The costs have exceeded the previous estimate of $10,000, of which the University's share would be $3,000, because the litigation has required more work by the accountants and the lawyers than was anticipated. The total fees to date are $14,585, of which the University's share is $4,375- The bills have been checked by the Comptroller and the Legal Counsel and are reasonable.
