The Secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of the Board of March 12, 1952, press proof copies of which were sent to all members of the Board in advance of this meeting. On motion of Mr. Johnston, these minutes were approved as printed on pages 1403 to 1441, inclusive.

The Board considered the following reports and recommendations from the President of the University.

AWARD O F CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT CERTIFICATES (1) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends that the following persons be awarded the certificate of Certified Public Accountant on the basis of having satisfactorily passed a written examination under Section 4b of t h e Accountancy Act of 1943, as amended in 1951, given by the Special Board of Examiners:

APPOINTMENTS TO BOARD O F EXAMINERS IN ACCOUNTANCY (2) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends t h e appointment of Mr. Louis M. Kessler, C.P.A., a partner in the firm of Alexander Grant and Company, 1 N o r t h LaSalle Street, Chicago, to the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for a period of three years beginning July 1, 1952, replacing William C. Waggoner whose three-year term will expire June 30, 1952. Mr. Richard H . Grosse, presently a member of the Board whose term will expire in June, 1953, has resigned from the Board because he is being transferred by his firm, Haskins & Sells, m West Monroe Street, from Chicago to Pittsburgh. H e has agreed t o serve a s a member of the Board until its duties with respect to the May, 1952, C.P.A. examinations have been completed. These examinations a r e given in November and May. T o fill this vacancy t h e Committee on Accountancy recommends the reappointment of Mr. William C. Waggoner, a partner in t h e firm of Touche, Niven, Bailey, and Smart, 208 South LaSalle Street, Chicago, to serve for the November, 1952, examination, and the appointment of Mr. Charles Robert Miller, a partner in the firm of A r t h u r Young and Company, 1 North LaSalle Street, Chicago, to serve for the May, 1953, examination.
