MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT STODDARD

The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT OF ACADEMIC, ADMINISTRATIVE, RESEARCH, AND EXTENSION STAFF (1) Under present University statutory provisions, salaries of the instructional staff are payable in ten or twelve equal installments for an academic year's service. T h e professional or instructional year for which members of the teaching staff are employed extends through two regular semesters beginning in September and ending in June. Supplementary salaries are paid for teaching services during the summer session on the basis of 16 per cent of the annual salary, with a present maximum of $1200 for full-time service for an eight-week session. During the World W a r I I period the University operated on as many as three different, overlapping academic calendars, viz.: (1) the regular civilian prog r a m ; (2) the Navy College Training P r o g r a m ; and (3) the Army Specialized
