RETIREMENT OF KATHARINE PATTERSON, HOME ADVISER IN GRUNDY COUNTY (2) Miss Katharine Patterson, Home Adviser in Grundy County, has requested that she be retired from active service beginning December I, 1947, under the provision in the law creating the University Retirement System of Illinois which permits retirement "on or after the attainment of age sixty-five (65) in exceptional cases and for substantial cause at the request of the Employee and upon certification of the Employer." Miss Patterson became 65 on July 9, 1947, and has requested retirement because she is not physically able to carry the strenuous load required of a Home Adviser. In fact, she wanted to retire beginning September I, 1947, but continued in service because of the difficulty of securing a replacement. She has been in the service of the University as a member of the extension staff in the Department of Home Economics and as a Home Adviser since September 1, 1929.

On motion of Mr. Davis, this retirement was approved.
