AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR ASPHALT TILE FLOORS IN THE DENTISTRY, MEDICINE, AND PHARMACY BUILDING (6) Bids were received for the installation of asphalt tile flooring in Rooms 106, 221, and 423 Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy Building as follows: Bidder Amount Remarks General Floor Corporation ?3 256 Complete C. E. Korsgaard Co 4 180 Add $275 for tile on stair risers Thos. Moulding Floor Mfg. Co 2 659 Incomplete; does not include stair risers or handling of lecture room seats T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend that the contract be awarded to the General Floor Corporation in the amount of $3,256. The bid from the Thos. Moulding Floor Mfg. Company was disqualified because it did not include all the work specified. The value of the work not included in their bid is considerably more than the difference between their bid and that of the General Floor Corporation. Funds are available in the Physical Plant Department budget for this improvement. I concur, and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this contract was awarded, and authority given as recommended.

AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM — CHICAGO (7) T h e following bids have been received for a new fire protection system in the Chicago Professional College buildings: Bidder Amount M. J. Corboy Co., Chicago ? i 8 600 O'Callaghan Bros., Chicago 24 750 H. P. Reger Co., Chicago 23 300 J. W. Holt Co., Chicago 39 370 This is an important project; the present fire protection system is without water due to underground leaks and failure of piping. T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend award of the contract to the lowest bidder, M. J. Corboy Company, at $18,600. Funds have been budgeted for this purpose. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, this contract was awarded, and authority given as recommended.

AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM CHICAGO (8) Bids have been received for the installation of a new fire alarm system in the buildings of the Chicago Professional Colleges as follows: Bidder Amount Installation E. T h e survey of mechanical facilities in the Chicago Professional Colleges by Holabird and Root, indicates that the present fire alarm systems, particularly in the buildings acquired from the Department of Public Welfare, are in a deplorable state, a serious situation in the operation of hospitals.
